Join Miriam Swanson, Child and Youth Director at Real, and Clarissa Ventress, Operations Manager of Younger Persons Mental Health and Addiction Services, Capital Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa to learn how they are addressing wait times for taiohi accessing mental health support.
Real, a mental health NGO, developed the Haumanu Specialist Clinical Service, with the aim of being flexible and responsive to need through a fee-for-service model. Haumanu partners with the Capital Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Service (ICAMHS) to innovate and reduce wait times. Haumanu offers specialist intervention for taiohi me ngā whānau who have experienced trauma and mental health needs. Based at Salmond House in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, the Haumanu team also offers clinical support virtually across the mōtu.
This hour-long breakout is an opportunity to hear about how collaboration and partnership across NGO and Health NZ Te Whatu Ora district services can lead to improved experiences for tāngata whai ora and their whānau.
