Join Eden Grimwood, Youth Mentor and Consumer Advisor at Whāraurau, and Abigail McDonald from the KPI Programme, to shine a light on the state of wait times in ICAMHS services across the motu. With the Mental Health Target aiming to have 78% of rāngatahi seen within three weeks by financial year 2026/2027, it is a great time to reflect on how far we have come in financial year 2024/2025.
While we strive to reach this target it is important to monitor how this might affect the quality of care for young people, and explore how we can use balancing measures to avoid unintended consequences and bottle necks further along the service journey.
In this benchmarking breakout, we will look at wait time to first and third in-scope activity, and also look at how many young people have an inpatient admission as their first contact with specialist mental health services.
